Purpose

Report Cards is the final stage of the exam lifecycle. Once marks for an exam are entered and locked in Marks Entry, this module processes them into results — computing totals, percentages, grades, and class rank — and turns that into a report card parents can view or download. You also manage the report card template here: what it includes (marks table, grade scale, attendance summary, remarks) and how it's laid out.

Report cards aren't published automatically the moment marks are locked. You review the processed results first, then publish deliberately, so nothing goes to parents before you've had a chance to catch errors.

When to Use

  • Once all marks for an exam are locked, to process results and generate report cards.
  • When checking a class's rank list or average before releasing results.
  • When setting up or updating the report card template — the school logo, sections shown, and grading legend.
  • When a parent can't see or download a published report card and you need to check its status.

How to Use

  1. Open Report Cards from the Admin dashboard and select the exam whose marks are fully locked.

  2. Run Process Results — Larnup calculates each student's total, percentage, grade, and rank within their class based on the exam's grading scheme.

  3. Review the processed results before publishing. Spot-check a few students against their raw marks if anything looks unusual.

  4. Choose or confirm the report card template for this exam — you can select a different template per exam if needed (for example, a simpler one for unit tests versus a detailed one for finals).

  5. Add any overall remarks if your template includes a remarks section.

  6. Publish the report cards. Once published, they become visible to parents in their app, and can be downloaded as PDFs from the admin side too.

  7. If an error is found after publishing, unpublish, correct the underlying marks in Marks Entry, reprocess, and republish.

TipKeep a standard report card template per exam type (unit test, term, final) so parents see a consistent format across the year rather than a different layout each time.
Common MistakePublishing report cards notifies parents — don't publish until you've reviewed the rank list and grades, since republishing after an error is more disruptive than catching it beforehand.
