Purpose

Backup lets you export and back up the school's data from Larnup for the school's own records. It's a safety net โ€” a way to keep an offline copy of key school data outside the app, useful for compliance, audits, or simple peace of mind.

When to Use

  • Periodically, as part of the school's own data retention practice.
  • Before a major change, like a bulk update to student or fee records, so you have a recent copy on hand.
  • When an external authority requests a data export for compliance or inspection purposes.
  • At the end of an academic year, to archive that year's records before starting fresh.

How to Use

  1. Open Backup from the Admin dashboard.

  2. Choose what to include in the export โ€” students, staff, fees, attendance, exams, or a full school export, depending on what's available.

  3. Select a date range if the export supports one, so you're not always pulling the full history.

  4. Run the export and download the file once it's ready. Larger exports may take a few minutes to generate.

  5. Store the downloaded backup securely โ€” treat it with the same care as any other file containing student and staff data.

TipSchedule a habit of exporting a full backup at the end of each term or year โ€” it's much easier than trying to reconstruct historical data later if you ever need it.
Common MistakeBackup files can contain sensitive student and staff information โ€” store and share them carefully, and avoid leaving downloaded copies on shared or personal devices.
