Marks Entry

Purpose
Marks Entry is the stage of the exam lifecycle where actual scores go in. Day-to-day, this is a teacher's task โ each subject teacher enters marks for their students against the exam and subjects defined in Exams. As School Admin, you don't usually type in marks yourself; your role is oversight โ tracking which classes and subjects still have marks pending, reviewing entries for anything that looks off, and locking marks once they're final so they can safely move into Report Cards.
Locking is the key control you own here. Once marks are locked for a subject, teachers can no longer edit them without an admin reopening entry, which keeps results consistent right before report cards are generated.
When to Use
- While an exam is in progress, to check which teachers still haven't submitted marks.
- When a teacher requests a correction to marks they've already submitted.
- Right before report card generation, to lock all marks and prevent further edits.
- When a parent or teacher disputes a score and you need to check who entered it and when.
How to Use
-
Open Marks Entry from the Admin dashboard and select the exam you want to review.
-
You'll see a class-by-subject grid showing entry status โ Pending, In Progress, or Submitted โ for every teacher responsible for that subject.

-
Tap into any cell to see the individual student marks a teacher has entered, including absentees marked separately from zero scores.
-
If a correction is needed, reopen that subject's entry for the teacher, or edit the marks directly if your role permits it โ Larnup keeps a record of who made the change.
-
Once every subject for a class is submitted and checked, use Lock to freeze marks for that class and subject so they can't be edited further.
-
When all subjects across all classes for the exam are locked, the exam is ready to move into Report Cards for processing.
