Live Tracking

Purpose

While a trip is running, the app shares your bus's live location automatically โ€” you don't turn this on or off yourself. This page covers what live tracking looks like from the driver's side. Parents and school admins see the same live location from their own apps, which is explained more fully in the Transport Guide.

When to Use

  • To confirm your location is actually being shared during a trip.
  • If a parent or the school says they can't see the bus moving and you want to check on your end.
  • When you're troubleshooting a signal or GPS issue mid-route.

How to Use

  1. Start a trip as described in Running a Trip. Live tracking begins automatically the moment the trip starts โ€” there's no separate switch for it.

  2. On the Home or Route tab, you'll see an indicator that live tracking is active for the current trip.

  3. Tracking continues in the background as you drive, even if you switch to another tab in the app.

  4. If you pause the trip, tracking pauses along with it โ€” your last known location is what stays visible until you resume.

  5. When you end the trip, live location sharing stops. Your position is no longer visible to parents or the school after that point.

TipKeep the app open and your phone's location/GPS permission turned on for the whole trip. If the app is force-closed mid-trip, tracking stops even though the trip technically still shows as in progress.
Common MistakeA short GPS gap (a tunnel, a dead zone) is normal and will catch up on its own โ€” don't restart the trip to "fix" it. Restarting can break the trip record instead of helping it.
