Emergencies & Incidents
On this page
Purpose
Most trips run without incident, but Transport includes a dedicated path for when something does go wrong โ a breakdown, an accident, or any situation the Driver needs to flag immediately. This page covers how incident reporting works and what each role should expect during and after one.
When to Use
- You're a Driver dealing with a breakdown, accident, or any situation during a trip that needs to be flagged right away.
- You're a School Admin who needs to understand how an incident gets reported and what you'll see.
- You're a Parent who received an incident-related notification and want to understand what it means.
- You're reviewing past incidents as part of a safety check.
How to Use
-
If something happens during a trip, the Driver opens the Report Incident (or Emergency) option from the active trip screen โ this stays reachable throughout the trip, not buried in a menu.
-
The Driver selects the type of incident and adds any relevant details โ what happened and the current situation.

-
The trip's current location is attached automatically, since tracking is already running โ the Driver doesn't need to describe where they are.
-
Once submitted, the report reaches the School Admin so the school can respond appropriately โ whether that's arranging alternate transport, contacting parents, or escalating further.
-
Depending on the severity and how the school has things configured, affected Parents may also be notified directly.
-
The trip itself doesn't need to be ended to report an incident โ tracking continues so the school can still see the vehicle's location while the situation is handled.
-
Once the situation is resolved, the Driver can resume the trip normally, or end it if the trip can't continue, following the usual steps in Running a Trip: Start to End.
