Purpose

Larnup has two separate layers of "subscription." A school's own platform plan is set up during onboarding by a Sales Partner (or via self-registration) and its status is visible on the School Admin's own Subscription page — that's not covered here. This page, and the rest of the Subscription guides, cover the second layer: the optional, parent-paid premium subscription that adds extra features on top of what the school already provides for free.

When to Use

  • You're a Parent deciding whether the premium subscription is worth it for your family.
  • You want to understand what payment methods are available before you subscribe.
  • You've been sent to an external browser during checkout and want to confirm that's expected.
  • You're comparing paying through the app versus through Google Play.

How It Works

  1. Plans are shown clearly before you commit. Open Subscription from your Parent app to see the available plan(s), what's included, and the price, before starting checkout.

  2. Razorpay handles in-app payment. When you choose to subscribe, checkout opens through Razorpay in your device's external browser rather than inside the app itself — this is expected behavior, not a bug. Complete payment there and you'll be returned to the app once it's done.

  3. Google Play offers an alternative path on Android. Instead of paying through Razorpay, Android users can manage their subscription as a Google Play in-app purchase, using whatever payment method is already saved to their Google account.

  4. Pick whichever path fits how you already pay. Both paths unlock the same premium features — the difference is purely in how payment is processed and where you go to manage or cancel it afterward.

  5. Your plan status is visible after subscribing. Once active, your current plan and its status are shown on the same Subscription screen, along with renewal details covered in Parent Subscription & Renewal.

TipIf you subscribed through Google Play, manage cancellations and payment method changes through Google Play's own subscription settings, not through Larnup directly — Google Play subscriptions are managed at the platform level.
TipKeep an eye out for the browser tab or window that opens during Razorpay checkout — closing it before payment confirms can leave your subscription unstarted, so wait for the confirmation before switching back to the app.
Common MistakeDon't assume the app has frozen when checkout opens an external browser — this is how Razorpay payments work in Larnup by design. If the browser doesn't open at all, check that pop-ups or browser redirects aren't blocked on your device.
Common MistakeA school's own platform subscription and a Parent's premium subscription are entirely separate — paying for one doesn't affect the other, and School Admins should check their own Subscription page rather than this guide for their school's plan status.
