App Download & Initial Setup

Purpose

Larnup is a mobile app first — most day-to-day use, across every role, happens there. This page covers where to get it and what the first few minutes of using it look like, so your first login goes smoothly.

When to Use

  • You've just been invited to Larnup and need to install the app.
  • You're setting up a new phone and need to reinstall.
  • You're a School Admin telling parents or staff how to get started for the first time.
  • Something about first-run setup (permissions, notifications) seems stuck and you want to check what's expected.

How to Use

  1. Download the Larnup app from your device's app store — search "Larnup" on the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).

  2. Open the app and log in using the mobile number or email your school has on file for you. See Logging In if you haven't received your invite yet.

  3. On first login, the app may ask for a few permissions depending on your role — for example, Drivers and Parents are asked for location access, since transport tracking depends on it, and everyone is asked about notification permissions so you receive alerts and announcements.

  4. Review your profile details (name, contact info, photo) and update anything that's missing or incorrect.

  5. Take a moment to look around your dashboard — it's built specifically for your role, so what you see here is what you'll use day to day. See Roles & Permissions if anything looks unfamiliar.

  6. If your school also offers a desktop web portal for your role, you can log in there with the same credentials for a fuller-screen experience — useful for Admins and Teachers doing heavier setup work.

TipGrant location and notification permissions when asked, even if you're not sure you need them yet — features like live bus tracking and attendance alerts depend on them, and it's easier to allow them upfront than to hunt for the setting later.
TipIf you use Larnup for more than one child, or in more than one role, check with your school whether that's handled with one account or several — this varies by how your school has things set up.
Common MistakeThe web portals for Parent and Sales Partner roles can lag slightly behind the mobile app in features — if something you expect isn't available on web, check the mobile app before assuming it's missing entirely.
Common MistakeDon't skip the permission prompts and then report tracking or notifications as "not working" — most first-run issues trace back to a permission that was denied at setup. You can usually fix this from your device's system settings for the app.
